James Spelman is a renown school and event photographer with over 15 years of experience.  James (Jim) is our principal photographer and the face of Spelman Photo. His daily activities include, event consultations, photographer logistics and lab operations. He has formed many school to studio relationships and is involved on a daily basis with business operations and photographing events personally. In fact, Jim grew up in the school photo business and helped Spelman Photo make the transition into digital imaging in 1999!

William (Bill) Spelman founded Spelman Photo over 35 years ago. Bill has advanced his company to one of the largest school and event photography studios in Northern Illinois. With Bill comes an impressive client list including, NFL, NBA, WGN, Chicago Tribune, Barbara Bush and many other heads of state and public personalities. 

Bill strives to provide a personal relationship with all of his clients and makes certain each of his clients feel appreciated. He is active in providing software innovations for the studio, as well as being involved with imaging workflow and ensuring quality business practices. He also maintains contact with our clients and services many schools personally, shooting events and underclass days. He is also very involved in I.D. software distribution and setup.

Barb came to Spelman Photo with a strong background in personnel management,  client relations, image editing, yearbook and pannel page design, and digital production. She also has extensive knowledge of many office and production programs including, Photoshop, Indesign, and our proprietary yearbook layout software. Her daily activites include office personnel management, package assembly, and logistics. In fact, Barb is a direct contact for many of our clients.
